God is Love

                                                     

God loves you.

    God loves the world.

        Have you tasted God’s love?

            Can you out-love God?

                What is first, God’s love or yours? 

                    Are you a witness to God’s love?                                                                             

 

We say the love OF God, as though God’s love is beside Him, with Him, or something He owns. 

That is all well and true. More than that, God IS LOVE!

 

In this imperfect world of sin, sickness, sorrow, and shame it is not always easy to wrap one’s mind around the truth that God IS love. He cannot be otherwise!                

 

It is much easier to comprehend that God is a consuming fire, (Deut. 4:24; Ex. 24:17;  Heb. 12:29) than that God IS love. When we see the forest fires of California we can understand what fire is, and what fire can do. But ask Moses about this consuming fire, he will tell you that this consuming fire is as strong as His love. The fire burned but the bush was not consumed. On the very same mount God descended in fire, yet Moses, Aaron, and the 70 elders were not consumed. For you see His love is stronger than His fire.

 

Look at Jesus, our Christ, as he walked among us. Ask Mary about His love and patience, don’t forget forgiveness. Look at Calvary. God loves the world SO much that He gave His unique and only Son to us so we can all be saved. The Love Father gave His Love Son not only to give up His life on Calvary, but to remain our Elder Brother for all eternity. What Love! What Love!! What Chesed!!!   

 

“…You are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in Chesed.” Thus prayed Nehemiah in 9:17.

 

Let us join in prayer with Paul; “May the LORD make His Agape increase and overflow for each other and for all Adam’s children…” Amen.  (I Thes 3:12)

    God IS love. Love is the antonym of sin. So God has to be a consuming fire to consume all sin from the universe. If we permit Him, He will consume the sin in us. But if we cling on to sin, He will have to consume us along with sin. What else God can do? Let us pray to Him to make us beings of love as He IS.

    I once heard that for the God head to exist as Three in One, They had to be Love. They are Three Omnipotent Beings! They could not exist together unless Their primary character is Love!! What an assurance!!!
