Fathers’ Love
My father’s care so stable;
Worries my faith can’t topple.
Strong arms with ease I’m lifted,
Living swing, and bough to climb;
Full of unshakeable trust.
My father’s love was shrouded
Neath a robe of stern firm hand.
Stirring awe bordering fear,
How long bide thus, I know not.
Did it ever disappear?
His respect and admiration
O’er flowed as reputation,
Washed over me as well;
Now know firm truth uprightness
His child inherits in will.
He held his peace and listened
Cost: being misunderstood.
A nudge now and then given
Problem solved! no help needed,
Or so he helped me to feel.
Tender love securely secured,
Every so often its leaked;
Bathes father and son sweetly.
As on his shoulders riding
Great mem’ries stored so gently.
The struggles and vict’ries won,
Like Jacob’s at Jabbok burn.
The night I held my first-born
The brass-bound love of father,
Explodes as blooming roses.
Great God! Our heavenly Father,
Your love, Your manna, Your care;
So precise, so generous,
Dependable, trustworthy,
A pattern we can mirror.
How wonderful to have an example in life, that helps me understand the love of God in a whole new way and in so many ways! Happy Fathers Day Appa.
